As a stylist, I’ve worked with many professional women during their pregnancies (and after).
Figuring out what to wear as your body is rapidly changing can be confusing — especially in hot weather.
Read on for three essential wardrobe pieces you’ll want to have in your closet if you’re pregnant during the summer.
Lightweight Summer Dress

My recommendation: Sona Dress, Hatch
Easy-to-wear summer dresses are indispensable for a summer pregnancy wardrobe.
Dresses are a one-and-done piece — no need to think about coordinating a top and bottom, just throw it on and go.
Look for looser-fitting silhouettes with a waist tie, as these will be adjustable to fit your body as it’s changing.
Dresses like these can be dressed up for the office with low-heeled sandals and a light jacket, or dressed down for the weekend with a stylish pair of sneakers.
Boyfriend Button Down Shirt

My recommendation: Something Borrowed Shirt, ADAY
Whether you’re working from home or going into the office, you still need to maintain a professional look during the hot summer months.
A button down shirt in white or a simple stripe is a classic wardrobe staple — and a “boyfriend”-style button down will be a bit looser and more oversized, giving you plenty of room through the different stages of your pregnancy.
For even more ease, look for one that’s stretchy and anti-wrinkle, like the one above from Aday.
Comfortable Heeled Sandals

My recommendation: Franco Sarto Oak Platform Wedge Espadrille, Nordstrom
These days the majority of my female clients don’t want to wear high heels for practicality and comfort, but they still want to look put together and cute.
Especially when you’re pregnant, the idea of wearing heels all day can seem torturous.
I always recommend investing in a 1 inch or lower heeled sandal; they’re comfortable to wear all day and perfect for dressing up outfits a bit.
Look for a neutral like tan or black that will go with just about anything in your closet, or try a fun animal print sandal.
