At Next Level Wardrobe, we’ve worked with hundreds of clients.
Our customers come from all over the world, from a wide variety of industries and backgrounds. They each have a unique relationship with their closet.
But no matter what, they come to us because they know we can systematize their style and create a wardrobe that’s THEM.
Recently, we sat down and noticed a few common behaviors and mindsets that our most successful clients have. If you want to get the most out of your wardrobe and your experience with us, this is for you.
Here are our top ten tips to anyone working with a stylist to get you to your style goals.
Table of Contents
1. Create A New Style Pinboard
Our most successful clients create a Pinterest board before working with us. They think about what they want their style to look like and they find visuals to help explain their goals.
Complete this homework ahead of time and you’ll ensure that we can easily and instantly align with your style vision. That way there’s no wasted time and we get the best results from our time working together.
2. Have an Abundance Mentality
An abundance mindset means you believe you have more than enough of the resources that you need for success.
This mindset allows you to go into your style experience with the attitude that you are capable of achieving your wardrobe wins. You believe that you have everything you need in terms of time, help (aka us), and ability.
You’re also not scared to let go of what’s not serving you anymore because you know there are better things out there.
In the closet edit, you’ll most likely see a big donation pile after our time together. Trust us. We’ll fill those gaps for you with items that truly love.
You’ll feel this throughout your journey with us. From the closet edit all the way until your last fit session appointment, you should feel hopeful and in charge.
3. Try a lot of product on
During your time working with a stylist, you’ll need to try a lot of clothing on to find what fits you best.
For our virtual clients, that means you’ll receive a customized shopping guide that have a complete list of products that we think are right for you. Think of it as your online fitting room.
Be prepared: you’re going to have a lot to choose from.
Remember, we need to build your wardrobe from the ground up and make sure you have the right foundation.
Our clients with the MOST success out of the gate, order as many products as possible in their shopping guide and are willing to try a lot on.
4. Be Open and Ready for Change
Clothing is just the first layer of great style—there’s so much more underneath.
As we work through your fit challenges and fashion fears, some sneaky style mindsets may come up.
You might find yourself feeling guilty, overwhelmed, disappointed, frustrated— you name it, we’ve seen it!
That’s okay. Clothing is emotional.
But what our most successful clients have in common is what they do about these fears and mindsets.
They face them head-on.
They are READY for the change.
That means they’re:
- Saying yes more often than not.
- Active participants in the styling process.
- Open to unlocking this new version of themselves. Let us see you!
5. Remember, We’re on Your Side
Our goal is to help you feel amazing. And a great stylist will ask a lot of questions, listen and then create a wardrobe that makes you feel like an enhanced version of yourself.
We’re here to be your number-one style cheerleader every step of the way. It’s a true partnership between us and our most successful clients respect our expertise and understand that we’re going to get them to success with their help.
6. Keep the Momentum Going
With any stylist, there will be a window of time to work with them as they’re a small business and it’s a very 1-1 service.
That’s why at NLW, Cassandra (Founder of NLW) interviews everyone to make sure it’d be a good fit. We talk about times when would be best to work together so our clients will get the most out of their experience.
That’s why style momentum is important with working with NLW. When we work with clients, we make sure that once we begin the service, we keep things going to get our clients to the finish line.
We always advise our clients to choose a time to work with us where they’ll be home and present. They’ll be checking their email regularly and be able to be highly engaged in the process.
7. The Key to Any Successful Relationship Is Communication
As with any partnership, communication is key and our most successful clients do that throughout their entire engagement with us.
Our goal at NLW is to have a long relationship with our clients, so they hae a trusted style partner for years to come. But we can’t do that alone.
Help us help you get you to your style dreams.
That means sharing with us your thoughts, feedback, fears etc. We’ve been in business since 2018 and have seen everything! We can coach you through the tough times to have big style breakthroughs. We can’t do that without your help though.
8. Be Present
It’s not enough just to show up to a styling or fit session and to go through the motions. We want you to be present and active.
That means listening, asking questions, and trying things out.
We want you to get the most out of your styling investment. That way you can use what you’ve learned for years to come.
9. This Is Your Journey
Your journey. Meaning YOU. Not your best friends, your sibling’s, or your spouse’s.
That’s why it’s important for us to work with you solo in your styling sessions. We don’t want any other’s opinions about your new style to distract from getting you to your style goals.
10. Be Patient
Although we’ve fine-tuned our style system to deliver you the best results in the most efficient way, it’s still a process.
You won’t go from the starting line to the dream closet overnight.
You’ll have tough moments.
All of that is completely normal.
But we’ll be with you every step of the way. Trust us and we’ll get you to where you always dreamed of and more with your style.
